Non-binary gender refers to people who do not identify with the male and female binary. Among people who have risen as spokespersons for the non-binary gender in Finland are, for example, the rap artist Tero Hetero and his band and visual artist Maija Saksman with her Groombride character.
Another known follower of his own path is BB name Lars Svartström, a transvestite who was one of the founders of the Psyke sexual minority association in 1968–69. Many drag queens and kings have also parodied heterosexual gender norms in their performances.
Intersex people in turn are people whose bodies do not conform to the normative expectations of sex traits. Underlying intersexuality are different genetic or hormonal factors, and intersexuality may be discovered anytime from infancy to adult age.
According to the comprehensive school curriculum for 2016 it is the task of basic education to increase information and understanding on gender diversity.
